I would do this instead (just my opinion)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2RfZk

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

MSI 970A-G46 ATX AM3+ Motherboard

Corsair XMS 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Asus Radeon R9 270 2GB Video Card

Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case

Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Base Total: $659.40

Combo Discounts: -$20.00

Mail-in Rebates: -$60.00

Shipping: $4.99

Total: $584.39

Now trust me, this is going to have allot more gaming performance, it should be able to run Battlefield 4 on ultra with no real lag... if hes been a console peasant he should transform into the PCMasterRace after this, the R9 270 is a good card and esspecially with Mantle I think its a great option. The best part is that its cheaper too!

tried to stay under 600

why 660? well xfx 7870 was same price, but have horrible cooler. 7870 is only better than 660 if overclocked or mantle, so...

alltho you can also get 6300 and gigabyte 270 if you want.

you can also drop the expensive case to more cheaper one if you want

you can even fit much more powerful gpu in

Here what I would get

It's over budget (which I assume is 600) by $9.

If the circumstances were different, I wouldn't go with an asrock motherboard, but it was one of the cheapest 970 motherboard
