CPU over temperature error

Howdy! I've had this computer for 2+ years and it has been working fine. Brought it back to the house one day and I boot it up and notice the fans are running real fast, restart the system and I get the above error on the American Megatrends page. I've made sure my cpu heatsink is secure, one screw is missing but it has ran find up to this point, and replace the thermal paste. After applying new thermal paste it ran okay but after a restart it was back to overheating, 70+ degrees Celsius in BIOS and 90+ when on home screen. All fans are working. Would super appreciate any help.

 

Cpu: i5-7600k 

Heatsink: Corsair hydro series h100i v2

Motherboard: ASUS Strix H270F

You've been lucky so far, is my suspicion. With a screw missing, the cooler probably isn't making proper contact. You should find a way to replace the missing screw.

Try putting some pressure on the heat sink and start the system up, see if that changes anything.

@Eigenvektor Got another compatible screw so all 4 were good, same deal, since the computer was off for a bit it cooled down so I could start it up once, then after a restart same error. @AndreiArgeanu Also tired putting pressure on it during start up with no luck either.

@Lemonfred do you have just a regular heatsink and a fan you can put on cpu. It could be that your aio pump gave out

Just attempted to use another pump I have, heat was worse on first startup, same error 2nd startup

I think I fixed it, the pump was hooked up on the cpu fan header on the motherboard not on the aio pump header, I changed it to that it all seems well. Thank you all for your help
