Recommended laptop

Location? Max budget? Any preferences on weight, battery life and display size? Need high sRGB display? Mind non-upgradeable RAM?

16-inch MacBook Pro with as much storage and memory as she can justify.  It has a large, sharp and colour-accurate display, high performance (without being a thick clunker), strong battery life and a rich ecosystem for photography software and peripherals.  The main drawback is that she'd need a dongle or hub if she wants a card reader, but that's honestly a small sacrifice here.
