Hey LTT, thanks to your recent video, it’s inspired me to build my own hi-spec pc.

I have a budget of £1500 My plan is to run  2/3 virtual machine on it,

Nas server, gaming pc and possibly a web server.

That’s what I’ve come up with so far,  Before I commit to buying those parts I was hoping you lovely people could answer a few questions for me.

So there is a note on that site saying the motherboard I’ve chosen has an additional 4-pin ATX power connection that my chosen PSU doesn’t have. Is that an issue for what I intend to use the pc for?

What VM software is best to use?

Is FreeNas perfect for a home Nas server or would you suggest something else?

And finally. For what I intend to use this pc for, what would you buy with my budget?

Many thanks

Oli from the U.K.

It should work fine.

Id run windows 10 on the hardware, then hyper-v for vms. Run games on the host. Run the nasa on the windows 10 host, make vms for the web servers.

Id just use the windows 10 host, or a linux system personally.

Id go 3900x here, faster about the same price.

How much do you plan to run in your web host and other vms, 64gb of ram is probably overkill

Id get a faster gpu for games.

So I took your advice and went with the 3900x. In the end I went with this.

It all arrived this morning and I’ve had so much fun building it, the OCD kicked in when cable managing.

I ran a cinebench test and only got a total cpu reading of 4.08ghz, is that right? 3.8base and turbo of 4.8
