RX 580 at High Temps

LiamRobinson

Hi,

I recently got a new PC with an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, RX 580 8GB, 16GB Ram, blah blah blah

But I noticed that my Graphics Card gets quite high - over 85 degrees at most.

Is it normal?

Or is it going to do damage?

Shouldn't do damage but it is quite hot and might reduce the lifetime of your gpu.

That is a bit high.

In my kids PC there is a Sapphire rx580 but that rarely goes over 65C.

Are the cooling fans working properly ?
How is it mounted ? Is the enough clearence in front of the GPU so the fans are not choked ?

UNDERVOLT UNDERVOLT UNDERVOLT.

Stock voltage settings on radeon cards are a sure way to shorten the lifespan of your GPU with lot of heat. With some tweaks, you'll save up few celsius, watts, and prolong the life of the hardware.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

I just did a bit of research and it's normal for AMD RX cards to run hotter than Nvidia.

This is During Gaming,

It is quite rare going to 85 Degrees.

Normally I get around 75-79

Is it new card or 2nd hand?? If its used try to repaste it, this may reduce temps.

85 is not terrible but still quite high imo. You may want to as well play with fan curve to set it up in between being cooler and still silent (if that’s what you want, if you don’t mind sound just increase fan speed )

It's a new card.

What case is that? You may lack of airflow in there.

Like I said before you can increase fan speed and see if that improves temps.

Whats is that particualr GPU, usually RX580 run around 65-75 degrees, i had mine running at 70-75 with increased fans speed, when i changed my cheap AZZA case for a CM H500 the fans were running slower and the GPU sits at around 60-65 degrees. Airflow make a HUGE difference in GPU temp.

Main System: Ryzen 2700, Asus Crosshair VII Hero, EVGA GTX 1080ti SC, 970 EVO Plus NVMe, Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz CL14, CM H500, CM ML240L cpu cooler.

Second System: Ryzen 2400G, Gigabyte B450 DS3H, RX 580 Nitro+, Kingston A400 SSD, Team T-Force 3200mhz CL15

If it ain't overclocked it ain't good...

Looking at that case all intakes are from side panel. I’m really not huge fan of that kind of solution. Imo that case will seriously lack of proper airflow.
