New i9 9900kf doesn't boot (HELP)

JoelHauser

hello all, I just upgraded from an i7 7700k to an i9 9900kf switched the cpus all and easy and i go to boot it up and nothing happens. The LEDs on my mobo turn on once connected to power, but when i go to turn it on nothing happens. Any suggestions? I've cleared the CMOS and that did not seem to solve the problem. I have a Z270 SLI Xtreme ATX do I need a new motherboard?

Thank you

Your current motherboard doesn't support 9th gen chips, you need a 300 series chipset board.

need to have a Z370 or Z390 board... 9900k is not compatible with the Z1/270 boards even though they're the same socket, 1151.
