Hi guys,

I'm thinking to upgrade my old pc because i think it's outdated but i'm not sure about it. I just bought a 1060 6gb from a friend of mine and i put it in my old pc wich has a P8p67, I5 2500 and 8gb Ddr3 ram. I thought of a Ryzen 5 2600 with a B450 and 16gb of Ddr4 (looks like a standard budget option), in your opinion i should see a difference in my games right ?

I don't have that much of money but as i bought my pc in 2011 should  i buy a new PSU ? (Mine is a 650w certified 80+)

Should i go for used components as my GPU is not that great ?

Sorry for all those questions but i'm a bit confused, i'll take any advices and thanks in advance for ur replies :)

Ps: Sorry for my english it's not my native language and merry christmas to all of you

What’s the exact brand and model of that psu?

Yes you gonna see big jump in performance, this 2nd gen i5 is quite old and can’t keep up with your gpu, specially that you have non K version so can’t overclock.

And yes that will be nice improvement and very decent performance, just let us know if you need help choosing motherboard etc.

@Whiro tag or quote will do the trick

Steam Deck OLED 512gb , all other pc’s are gone

Aforementioned parts will definitely give you a boost in performance. That ancient i5 is holding your 1060 back by a large amount.

There is nothing wrong in buying used parts if those parts haven't been abused by the previous owner e.g overclocked into oblivion.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Zotac RTX 5090 SOLID OC/ x2 WD_BLACK NS770 2TBs/ Corsair HX1000i/ NZXT H5 Flow

Yeah this is a good balanced choice. The i5 2500 is a great CPU still, but the 2600 is better and would be alot better for gaming

its about 100 better.. jk

Yeah I would, and get a good one you can use in your next PC. for peace of mind. Go for B+ and above, buy something on a good sale.  PSU Tier list

You could for the CPU, I wouldn't for the motherboard. Processors are way more reliable than motherboards, I would want a new board. the 2600 sells for a pretty good deal already though so might not be worth the hassle and questionable warranty

It's a Corsair but i'm not sure of a model.
I'm thining of taking a new one that's allow me to keep using my old pc for something else and it seems more safe.

Thanks for ur replies, i'm going to change my Cpu for sure now, a I5 9400F would be a better option than the 2600 ? Maybe a I3 9100F is enough ?

Up:

Hi guys i'm coming back to you because i have 2nd thoughts, i don't know if i should take a b450 or a x570. I will upgrade my GPU in the future so maybe the Pcie 4 in the x570 will ba an asset for a future GPU comaptible with it, i could take a 1600 used cpu et upgrade it later for lowering the price. I have no idea if the am4 socket will be use for long..
In my experience MB can be a very limited part for future upgrades but maybe b450 is just fine

Anyway thank you in advance for the time you'll take to answer this :)
