Only one of my two 2080 Ti fans is working? ?

I bought an EVGA XC2 Ultra Gaming 2080 Ti 3 days ago and I just noticed that only the fan on the left is ramping up while the fan on the right remains motionless.

 

Is my card broken? I’ve tried everything from reinstalling the card, using different power cables, and no matter what I do the fan just refuses to spin.

 

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any way to fix it or do I have to RMA it?

I believe EVGA has async fan profiles by default on there cards where they will spin independently of each other based on the temp loads for there corresponding cooling requirements. Do they both spin up under full load?

Hmm let me check. Would Timespy Extreme be considered a “full load”?

Well look at that the second fan DID start spinning while Timespy Extreme was running! You just saved me the time & hassle of an RMA. Thanks!  

 

I don’t know why on Earth EVGA would do something like that :/. It’s like they’re begging less technical savvy people to RMA their products thinking they’re broken.

I don’t know why on Earth EVGA would do something like that :/.

Reason is that Fans are the most common point of failure on cards, so the less fans spin, the less chance of failure. You can set it custom to how you want with EVGA's Precision X software. This is the only software that can control it for the async stuff and monitor the ICX temp sensors. You can also use MSI Afterburner to tell it to engage the fans whenever you want, but it will be both and not independently if you so choose to keep it that way.

Ah yeah I was using ASUS GPU Tweak II and I noticed it would let me set fan1 speed but not fan2 speed so I thought maybe fan2 was broken and not registering.

 

Normally I have my fans running at 100% 24/7 because I’m mostly deaf so noise doesn’t bother me and I want to keep my parts cool but now that I know fans are the most common cause of failure I might set a user defined fan curve and only have them ramp up to 100% at 65C+

I'd like to assume that even people who aren't tech savvy have enough brainpower and an IQ that's greater than their shoe size to read the leaflets and instructions that come with the GPU, especially the part about asynchronous fan speeds.

I read the manual and all documentation and there is nothing in there about the fans being asynchronous.
