Ryzen 2700 or 1700?

No, there is not such a reason, specially when you get that cpu for free.

Hi There

I have just walked into a free Ryzen 2700 processor.  I am currently running a Ryzen 1700 processor.  Neither are the X versions.

My gut feeling is that I should swap them over as the 2700 is marginally better than the 1700, but I thought I should check first.

Is there any reason to keep the 1700 and not replace it with the 2700?

Motherboard: ASUS Prime B350-Plus
Main Storage: Samsung 960 EVO 250GB
Secondary Storage: 6 Terra Raid Array

PSU: 1200W

You won't see much difference without finding high speed ram (2800-3200) that works with your board, check QVL if looking for new stuff to avoid headaches, but unless you are hard up for cash and could benefit from selling it you aren't gonna lose anything but maybe a bit of thermal paste slapping it into the new computer. 

If i was you i'd be tempted to sell it and put it towards 3000 system as it still holds some value on used market, but if you aren't going to upgrade or don't like dealing with used market then why not

2700 is marginally better, yet they are both "too fast"

got to mention the ryzen master on 2700 is easier for OC

 

downside?? you may drop both cpu and bent the pins
