PCIe slow

emilevirus

I bought a M.2 to PCIe adapter to fit a NVMe in my server. It works fine as long as I don't perform an heavy I/O task. In my second PCIe slot, I have a RX 570. Whenever I perform an heavy I/O task, GPU drivers crash. The NVMe performs also a lot slower than if I were to put it in another computer.

Any idea what could cause this?

Server Specs:

CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2689 @ 2.6 GHz
Mobo: Supermicro X9DRi-LN4F+
RAM: 72 GB ECC @ 1333 MHz
Storage: NVMe 950 EVO 256 GB, 2x 1 TB WD
GPU: AMD RX 570

Which PCIe slot is the NVMe plugged in to? I would pick a slot that is not sharing the lanes for the GPU through a PCIe switch chip or try a slot connected to the chipset. Try out the first and last x16 slots for the GPU and NVMe as a test.

The GPU is on CPU 1 and NVMe on CPU 2. However, their manual isn't clear as to what's the fastest slot for CPU 2. Is it better to put them on the same CPU or separate them? NVMe is on slot #1

EDIT: I found this in manual image.png.e3b9ddbdb7515647ab15d1f1d1098b7e.png
