This should give you an idea of what it supports:

AMD Socket AM3+ CPUs

List of supported CPU's:

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-78LMT-USB3-rev-60/support#support-cpu

THe FX 6300 is usually a decent value, for AM3+.

But uhh... This is super awkward, but it's not really a good idea to get a motherboard while not having a plan for CPU (and RAM). A budget AM4 board and a second hand 2200G and some dual channel DDR4 would probably work a lot better.

What would happen if i tried to put an lga 1155 cpu in it

you can't.

CPU (illustrative only):

Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-QX6700-CPU-LGA775-Desktop-CPU-CPU-LGA-775-100-goed-werkt-Desktop.jpg

Board:

The board expects a CPU with pins, the CPU expects a board with pins. Not compatible, won't work, you can't even install it.
