Okay, I just bought a Logitech G613 to replace my Das Keyboard, as I needed something wireless.

There’s a lot I don’t like about the keyboard so am likely going to be throwing it out/sending it back, but trying to give it a chance.

I’m trying to program the G Keys to actually do something useful, but the G Hub software is absolutely abysmal, so we shall start something simple. The app is so focused around gaming and I couldn’t give a shit about gaming.

When I press the “G1” key I want it to launch a directory, that’s it. There’s no option for that in the software, and while I could potentially set it to launch explorer.exe with the directory passed as an argument, I’m not super sure if thats possible. I haven’t delved too far into it as the software doesn’t store the G keys in memory which means G Hub has to be running to be able to use the hot keys and I really don’t want this piece of crap running all the time.

So I would rather set the key binding in DisplayFusion or another hotkey app but I can’t seem to do that because the keyboard just seems to report “G1” as “F1” which means it’s completely useless as why the fuck would I want it bound to F1? I already have a perfectly good F1 key.

So is there a way to do this with third party software? If not, how do I do it in G Hub?

thanks to the always helpful members of this forum and if anybody from Logitech is reading: Nobody ever wants to install shitty bloatware.

Thank you

I own a G502 Mouse and I've installed the GHub software on the day I got it. It was absolute shite. Use the "normal" logitech driver, which installs the "Logitech Gaming Software", and despite not having the best interface, it's far better than GHub. Hope that helps.

Doesn't work at all, forces me to install GHub.

And Ghub flat out doesn't let me assign any action to the programmable keys. So they're not exactly programmable then. And if I'm not using them, I'm returning the keyboard because they put the whole keyboard position out of alignment. I've got like a $200 logitech mouse on order too that I'm likely going top have to return as well. Argh.

Whatever idiot decided that custom keys should use the same scan codes as the F keys deserves leeches.

Yeah I got that, it blocks me from using anything and tells me I have to install G Hub. Or if I have G Hub installed it tells me to launch it.

Now I've figured out in G Hub that I CAN assign the G keys to other keys - so I have them set to F13-F18 which they SHOULD BE HARDWIRED FOR. Then I can use them to call a script with DisplayFusion.

But as soon as you close G Hub, the keys revert to F1-F6. Seriously, what was the discussion at the engineering table? If you can't be bothered to put memory on the keyboard, then why are the keys not given unique identifiers?

Hey, if you or another runs into this same problem. The issue is having G Hub installed on the computer. If you have only the Logitech Gaming Software, the keyboard will show up and allow you to fully customize what G1-G6 do.

I have this keyboard too, I'm not near it right now to check but I think you need to use the macro record function (can't remember exact name) and assign the desired key to perform that macro.

Eg. You could program G1 to be Alt-Tab

As far as opening a particular directory goes I'm not sure if that will work in ghub but I haven't tried that.

You might be better just using a 3rd party macro / automation tool

While I’ve long since ditched the garbage keyboard, you couldn’t use a 3rd party tool with it because the G keys are detected as F keys (e.g if you press G1, it registers as F1). So you have to use the Logitech software to map them to other keys and then still have the 3rd party automation software to run the macro.
and the mappings only apply while the Logitech software is running, so if you switch computers (e.g laptop to desktop or to someone else’s computer to help them out), the whole thing stops working.
