So, I want a motherboard (I sound so greedy) that supports LGA 1151 (or AMD-I'm flexible), 3000mhz of RAM without RAM overclocking, at least 2 M.2 slots, with most modern things (internal and external USB 3.0 etc...) on PC Part Picker and doesn't need an extra 8-pin connector for the CPU (it's like a EPS 12V or something). My budget is $350AUD or $241USD.

1151 is legacy.  Is there a cpu ready that needs to go into it?  Different CPUs only fit certain motherboards.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I want to buy a new CPU, so ideally one fit for a Intel Core-i5 8th Gen or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, because that's what I've currently got my eyes laid on.

Ryzen 3600 is widely considered to be the Best Buy at the moment.  I personally like the 3600x over the 3600 atm solely because it comes with a usable cpu cooler.  Prices fluctuate though and if a 3600 + a cooler is cheaper than a 3600x there’s no reason to buy a 3600x over a 3600.

The standard bang/buck motherboard for the 3600 is a b450 chipset board that has an updated bios on it allowing ryzen 2 CPUs to run without an update.  Updating a b450 board that does NOT have the CPU update already in place means it has to be updated before the new CPU can be run.  This varies a lot in difficulty according to the particular motherboard in question.  The b450 has a few limitations vs x470 and x570.

it has pcie3.0, and can run only one video card and one NVME m.2 card without serious performance problems.  If these are not limitations for you though there is little reason to buy an x470 or an x570.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

A little over but here, ram is example not exact model

image.thumb.png.06b436a1fdefbee9d50e37790657a596.png
i meant this ram but its currently got a price bump for no reason (availability?).  https://www.newegg.com/p/1B4-01H0-000E9?cm_sp=SearchSuccess-_-INFOCARD-_-kingston+hyperx+fury+black+8gb+kit-_-9SIA9DEAJH9561-_-2&Description=kingston+hyperx+fury+black+8gb+kit anything 2800+ speed and duel channel (not a single stick, 2x4gb or 2x8gb) is good though

If you want a new CPU and don't mind shipping taking a few days or maybe a week, you can get one of these of ali for same price as 2600, like with ebay just buy from reputable guy on there.

This video is good but i'd avoid the a320 boards he mentions, atleast with the ASRock b450m you can run a 12 core stock, and OC a 8core, the a320s usually dont support any OC and likely can't be upgraded to much better then 6 core part, maybe a 8 core max in the future but often pushing it with those boards.

boggy77s setup is honestly what you should want to shoot for though

You have to put xmp mode on anyways. There are no bards that support 3000mhz at default speed. You have to put the xmp on manually
