Virus question.

Hey, i was wondering where i can get professional help for free from someone regarding clearing my pc from any viruses just to make sure it's clean.

Like "want to be sure your house is clean - build new one". No, new system is new system, OP asks for current system.

What is your experience in cybersecurity?

 

Can you use some basic tools to get most items... sure. Can you (with lots of experience) do a full forensic analysis and remove it all... sure.

 

The first will leave remnants of the malicious software and is only as good as the heuristics and/or definitions it uses.

 

The second takes a good amount of time and is prohibitively expensive if you pay to have it done.

 

There is a reason we reimagine machines. There is also a reason people should be backing up any data they don't want or cant stand to lose. Storage is cheap and there are many options out there to fit every use case.

 

I mean if you are properly backing up the things you need... then a format and reinstall isn't bad. If you are concerned over future bandwidth use or the time it would take to download everything then you can just get all the stuff you want on there and make a golden image of your own to use if you do need to reimage.

We're taking about "how to be sure that you're clean". We can agree that freshly installed system is free of viruses, so there is no point to ask that question and discuss about it. No, real question is how to be sure you have no viruses on existing, working system. If you format all your drives and install new system, this question has no sense.

If your good at something never do it for free. Try having Avast/Bit defender with malwarebytes installed and up to date. Normally you can tell if something "Isn't right" with your PC. I also recommend reading Resource Monitor. This will let you see what is all using resources. And it allows you to drill down into every process. With some studying you can quickly learn to see whats normal and what could be malicious. Best practice to always have a backup of last know "GOOD" where the PC performed exactly how you wanted.
