It should work fine, but the CPU is definitely a weak point with 4 core no HT and only 3.3Ghz boost (which is lower then most current CPU's base clock) and therefore its not futureproof.

What games are you playing?

Your PC lacks a lot of performance to run CoD MW even on recommended specs.

You need a 1080 minimum for 144hz at 1080p, but you also need 16 Gb Ram and (more importantly) a WAY better CPU (i7 8700k if you wanna stick to Intel).

144Hz at 1080p smoothly is quite a task for a game system at a triple A game, a low end system will not cut it.

I believe im hitting or am very close too 144fps on COD MW, with a 1070, but I also have a i7 8700 with 16GB of RAM.

If i upgrade my GTX 960 to a GTX 1070 and upgrade my ram to 16gb will that do it? I almost play on the lowest settings aswell.

That'll do it on the GPU front, the CPU will still hold you back. A lot of newer AAA games bully any CPU with less than 6 cores, COD MW is one of those AFAIK. I'd still upgrade the GPU anyways, if you spent that money on a CPU, well: 1) you wouldn't be able to afford a CPU + mobo + 16GB RAM combo for around $200 or so (you'd want an R5 3600 + B450 mobo + 3200Mhz CL14/3600Mhz CL16 RAM), and 2) if you did then your GPU would just hold you back, lol.

Upgrade to the GTX 1070 and 16GB RAM if you get them for a good price, then save for a better CPU/mobo combo.

I see. My bugdet is not 200$. I was wondering if a gtx 1070 used for 200$ is a good deal or not. Do i need a new motherboard?

Yeah, you'll defo need a new mobo. Best in socket for your current one would be a 6700K AFAIK. And that will struggle in COD MW, from what I've seen and read it's one of the AAA titles that really wants a 6+ core CPU, and a solid GPU.

As for the GPU itself, $200 for a 1070 is about the usual price, I usually see them for $180-200 or so depending on model.
