Blackberry can now run android apps natively

d3veg

I own a blackberry z10 (don't worry I got a very good deal from an employee) and with this new ability to natively run android apps, It's almost to the point where I can recommend the phone. The problem is, that the new updated OS doesn't come pre-installed with an android marketplace, and it is up to you to find one and install one. Not something the average user wants to do. Also the Google play store is not supported, so you are stuck with 3rd party stores.

I think if blackberry was smart, they would ditch their OS and put a skinned version of android on the phones (like HTC Sense). I love their hardware, durability-wise. I've dropped the naked phone on concrete from about 5.8ft (ear level) and it only get a minor scuff. After that I bought a fairly cheap case and have dropped it dozens of times. no problems.

yes, you can download and install .apk no problem in 10.2.1. The only apps that do not work are ones that rely on Google services integration. I've run into 2 so far: Play store, Snapchat, and Clash of clans syncing service. It still runs the app, but there are issues when it tries to use certain features.

I'm overall super happy, as I can get all the apps I was missing out on hassle free, no sideloading, no conversion, no need to attach my phone to a computer
