decent WiFi adapter for gaming

My friend is building a pc and apparently cannot run ethernet up into his room. So he will need an adapter! Any suggestions on an adapter that won't bottleneck an - albeit casual - gaming experience?

would there be any benefit to making a wifi bridge with an additional router, vs using a network adapter?
