Thoughts on upgrade

AMDPRO

Hi guys, my current pc has a Ryzen 5 1600, a Vega 56, 32gb of ram, 750w psu. I wanted the communities opinion on wether or not buying a second Vega 56 for around $200 is worth it or if I should sell mine and save up for a 5700xt or rtx2070

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 MOBO: MSI Tomahawk B350 GPU: Reference cooled GTX 980 Storage: Intel SSD5 256Gb RAM: 8gb Geil EVO Potenza Case:  Phanteks p300 PSU: EVGA 500 watt CPU Cooler: AMD wraith spire

Obviously get a single, more powerful GPO because multi GPU setups are dead.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

Just get a newer GPU. Save up for the 5700XT instead.

...is the 5700XT even that much more powerful? Doesn't sound like a very worthwhile upgrade tbh.

We really need more info, like what games you play and the resolution of your monitor, etc.

What it seems like I am going to do in the end with my 970:

Ignore Black Friday, keep my card, wait for after Christmas sales when Navi20 might be available as well as a new digital monitor.

part of the issue is the new cards don’t do dvi-DL at all, and sometimes don’t do analog at all. If you got a really old monitor it might be a problem.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

It may be time for a new monitor then... Not to mention you can purchase adapters for that exact scenario and my 2070 S came with a Display to DVI adapter in the box.
