Hey there, lovely (and not at all cancerous) community!
While in general, I don't really care about getting to watch videos ahead of time, I'm considering joining floatplane for the community and to show some support for one great guy (and try to get Luke back :( )
the thing is I only watch videos on mobile. How's the experience? Is there an app? How's the mobile interference?
(Have they built it beautiful?)

There is the android app. Not too sure about iOS. The experience is nice. I enjoy watching on floatplane (even though I don't get too often) and just have a yearly subscription to the service. Anything to try and get me away from youtube and their bad company practices. You get exclusives not just get videos ahead of time so there's that. It's a personal choice. One I've made since they were using Vessel and continue to support them through floatplane.

I fix computers for a government that is garbage. I'm also a certified security professional according to Comptia

Using my paycheck on computer parts and alcohol and since this is a tech form I'll help with computer stuff I guess

I haven't used the app, but using a browser was good enough. Usually I just download videos and move them to my tablet for offline viewing.

PS. As long as Floatplane is success, you aren't going to see Luke doing anything else than Floatplane.

SO if your intent is simply to show support then that's fine.. However I'm one of the OG's who's been paying for content since the vessel days, so when floatplane started the pitch was the same, i.e we'd get content a week before anyone else..

But honestly floatplane is a sh*t show now, they may have made the platform much better than it was, but Linus' commitment to the platform's been absolutely crap, and more often than not we're at most 1 day ahead with the content now, 2 days is an extremely rare treat.. Now this speaks alot for how LMG views floatplane when they're not even keeping true to their own word about it.

Beyond that LTT's been in a VERY nasty habbit of dumping their 1:st edited runs of videos there and we've had it happen hundreds of times now, but it was made painfully clear with the latest scrapyard wars, especially the second episode..

We're basically alpha-testers, and PAYING for the goddang "pleasure" of seeing videos with missing audio, and sponsored content segments which is NOT supposed to be in the videos on floatplane AT ALL which they are either too lazy or too ignorant to edit out, and the floatplane crowd is wildly complaining in comments on the videos, but more often than not we're ignored..!!

Oh also, in order to sort of catch up with the content they've started uploading clips that are from "the cutting room floor" or BTS, and it's just such a damn obvious attempt at appeasing the crow, but noone is happy about it!

In my opinion.. If you can get the subscription for $3 and you REALLY want to support them, then fine, go ahead .. But at $5 it's a goddang joke, and i also openly DISCOURAGE ANYONE from subscribing to this crap, at least if you're doing it for LTT content because LMG has entirely forgotten about it's subscribers off their main platform (youtube) and seem to be expecting us to KEEP PAYING for the bullshit we're constantly exposed to on floatplane.

You should be ashamed LMG, really.

Following the previous poster, there are issues, and I'm still thinking whether I will re-sub or not. Biggest is their business plan. I do get price increase with the content. Thats nothing new, and there are networks on YT which already have $10 or even $20 for monthly fee. But what LMG is saying they will do is separate their channels to own subscriptions. What will be the point of subbing to TechLinked, 5 mins 3 times a day when its not, it can't be, even early-access? I don't think anything other than LTT videos will get any subs.

They talk about "pressure" towards other creators. Seriously? These are smart people, they should understand the difference between 30+ employee company and 2 person combo. The premise of the service is that its more like Patreon than anything else. These people use Patreon already. They understand that they set tiers up which are good for their audience. Changing LMGs tiers just because others would felt left out sounds very much like shady marketing strategy, and as such it is big reason why I'm still waiting. Main reason is that I refuse to pay monthly basis when I already have been on yearly sub since the beginning.
