Application deployment.

GenericFanboy

Hi everyone. I'm not quite sure if this is the right place for this topic. Correct me if i'm supposed to put this anywhere else. That being said, Here's my question.

So, I have an internship at a school with a decent ammount of users. However. Everytime the teachers need a new piece of software we need to image all the pc's with that piece of software. This can get quite annoying seeing as its about 170~ pc's. So, i got tasked with figuring out how to use deployment systems for software. We're looking at Microsoft APP V or vmware thinapp. But, I dont know if it works in the way that we want. We want to create and send a package. So it stores itself on that PC. Is this possible?

Finding stuff about this is oddly enough quite weird. I havent seen any videos of this working on multiple systems at once. Does anyone have experience?

Look into PDQ Deploy

That looks quite nice. But is it able to deploy applications to that many pc's. Do i need any special infrastructures for that?

What software are you installing on the machines? Free version of PDQ Deploy is limited, you can't schedule deployments.. the enterprise costs around $500 per admin..

Enterprise is great and worth it if you're using it that much.

All you need really is a machine to deploy from. I use a VM but my machine could do it. We schedule deploys and stuff like that :)

I've been playing around with it. Works quite nicely! though having some problems with custom packages. Tried vivaldi as a test. Got it installed on a computer. But now it doesnt open at all.
