I'm in the market for a 4K OLED TV. I've been wanting one for ages in order to stream 4K movies to it from my PC, but I've put it off for a while waiting for the prices to come down.

Are there any 4K OLED TVs that aren't "smart" TVs? I really don't want cameras or microphones on my TV.

Does anybody have any recommendations?

Thanks

Honestly I have found it hard to find 4k content that will stream from a pc. Netflix and YouTube are the only ones that I have found that will do 4k videos where as all other services require some sort of hardware DRM that PC doesn't have. It is kinda annoying tbh.

Perhaps "streaming" was the wrong word to use. What I meant is that, for the most part, all I'm looking to do is play 4K files, which are already stored on my PC/HDD, on the TV via a DP/HDMI connection. Do you imagine I'd run into the same issue?

What TVs have you had these sorts of issues with?

Ahh damn. Fucking sucks. Fuck the gov't and their mass surveillance.

I guess that's one option, though isn't that monitor worth an arm and a leg?

Yeah, can't justify that price unfortunately.

As long as it isn't drm locked then you should be good. I just hate that is so hard to get 4k content on my pc legally. It's kinda ironic that I want to pay for 4k movies but because they are afraid of piracy they make it near impossible to do. Almost all require there own proprietary hardware like an xbox or chrome cast or apple tv. Can't just play 4k movies on my nice 4k HDR monitor.

Which means your only option is piracy... yeah, they've been very smart again.

Aside from the cheapest of cheap TVs, I don't know of any decent models out there that aren't smart TVs.  If you don't want to use the "smart" features though, then all you have to do is not hook it up to your network.  If it's not connected to the network, then it automatically becomes a "dumb" TV.

I'm convinced that's my only option at this point. I'm looking at the LG OLED55B9PUA. No cameras or microphones, just Wi-Fi, which means I can simply prevent it from connecting to my network :)
