mSATA wierd port

Hi, i'm currently trying to upgrade a laptop and i want to add a ssd to it. I saw an empty port on the center of the motherboard with ssd labelled on it (see picture). I'm almost certain that this port is an mSATA port beceause i tried to put a pcie network card on it and it didn't showed up. The wierd thing about this port is that it is too small to put an msata ssd on it, it has only 29mm clearance and a mSATA ssd need 50 mm. I also have this pcie port that has the right length but it is a pcie port. What type of ssd can i put on it ?

That port kind of looks like mini PCIE.

I am not aware of any SSD's in that form factor, but you could may get an adapter card to M.2 for it.

 

Not sure if that will physically fit though

Thanks for the reply, i already tried to fit a mpcie network card on it and the system wouldn't recognise it so i really think this is a mSATA port plus there is ssd labelled in front of the port.

Who's the manifacturer? Maybe they offer something on their website or in their manual. Might be proprietary.

 

I've had an HP that technically used MXM for the GPU, but the GPU had an odd form factor, so that you could only get raplacements from HP directly.

Hmm asus is the manusfacturer but as minibois said i never saw any ssd this size. Maybe this port is not meant to be used but this is very wierd.

Looks like mSATA mini? Transcend has some and Apacer too.
