100 precent cpu usage

playing the new modern warfare, and i notice a very high cpu usage while playing (100%) (when it hits 100% the mouse lags, and inputs are almost unresponsive, but the game stays at 40-60fps) pretty sure i'm just cpu bound, but there could be a work around, been trying to hold out on a upgrade. 

 

my pc specs are the following:

 

mobo: evga Z97 ftw

CPU: I7 4960k (oc 4.7 ghz) (aio)

Ram: 16gb vengeance ddr3

GPU: gtx 1080 (msi) (running a slight overclock) 

 

2650x1080 res 

 

I have had this build going on 4 years, and haven't changed anything. Ram is placed in the closest slots to the cpu. I wouldn't think my i7 would be the cause but could be. open to suggestions.

New Call Duty Modern warfare is one of cpu intensive games. Drop resolution down to 1080P and settings to see if it helps. Your other option is get a used i7 4770k or 4790k.

ok i figured it out, it was the ram, had it in single channel mode... been that way for years... what a performance jump also went from 1300mhz to 2300mhz.... went from 40-60fps to 180fps at 2650x1080! Big jump in performance.

Turns out its also pretty RAM intensive!

If High CPU(100%) usage is causing stuttering /Lag
