Want to trade my gaming laptop for someone else's PC. Got some questions and want to know whose specs are better.

I currently have an one year old gaming laptop that I wanted to swap for a gaming PC.

His specs that he posted:

CPU: Intel Core i3 - 8100

RAM: 24GB DDR4? RAM

PSU: EVGA 650W

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 8GB Founder's Edition

SSD: 500GB

My laptop specs: (MSI GP63 Leopard 8rd)

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750 CPU @ 2.20GHz

16gb ddr4 RAM

screen; 15.6" FHD 1920x1080 60Hz TN panel

128GB Kingston M.2 SSD + 1TB HDD

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB GDDR5 graphics

and I still got half year of warranty on it.

I want to know if my specs are better or his specs are better (so I know if I should pay him a bit more or he should send some my way) as well as if his specs have any room for upgrades. Thank you!

His build is definitely worth more than yours. Only weakpoint will be the CPU and I'm not so sure about his PSU or SSD model, but GTX 1080 is miles ahead of a 1050ti, let alone one that's slowed down for laptops.

Upgrade wise you could simply update the BIOS and put a 9400F in there, easy way to get 50% more multithread performance by adding 2 cores. 9600k isnt a bad choice if the board has Z chipset, but will be more demanding on the cooler.
