Hi :)

I need to setup a large disk for a Windows 10 machine that will need to handle large collections of files (~20TB of data per project).

This large disk would only be used temporarily to work on the data locally. These data would be permanently stored elsewhere (remote server).

I'd like to setup a large local volume rather than manually split the data among multiple disks.

What is the best strategy (and the most performant one)?

 - RAID0 of multiple smaller identical disks?

 - JBOD of multiple disks of various sizes?

 - Mount disks into a folder of another disk (NTFS)? Probably a bad idea since it wouldn't result in a large volume that I could manage how I want/need...

 - anything else?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Best,

-a-

Are you buying new hardware or using what you can find? Also very roughly how big are the actual files?  A whole bunch of little ones or are there some multi terabyte monsters in there?

Biggest one, who is paying? (You/not you)?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
