new cooler for overclock

i have an i5 3550 that's running around 3.3Ghz - 3.5Ghz

i overclocked it today to 3.9Ghz and it came close to 90 degrees with intel's stock "cooler" (legit trash)

i thought about getting a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Turbo for it to run in 3.9Ghz / 4.0Ghz under 80 or maybe even 70 degrees

will it keep the cpu under 80 or 70? and does it even worth the 54 dollars?

No? I think the 212 doesnt need that extra fan. At $54 or near it , there are better options. But i think the regular 212 evo is priced ok

maybe Hyper 212 clones like the Deepcool gammaxx 400 is more affordable?

How much do you intend to spend on a cooling anyways? There are lots of options. Check the first post in air cooling and see which one is available in your place and what is the best you can find for that price. If you will spend like $80 on cooling, noctua is the best. Also, what is your case clearance for cooling?

i have around 300 dollars but 250 is for a new gpu so probably 50 - 60 dollars

clearance is 177mm / 6.96 ince

Check for the price of arctic freezer 34 esports eddition. That might be good. I was gonna say, if you manage to find deepcool lucifer v2 in that price, it might be slightly ugly, but it cools quite okay.bequiet shadowrock 2 mighr also work.

what about the be quiet shadow rock slim?

The company rates it at 160w tdp  and that cpu is about 77w tdp. And the boost clock of the non oc is about 3.7. and you say you oc it to 3.9 which i would say is still a mild overclock so i think it can cool it down and some more. Btw if you plan on a 3.9 ghz, do you think you can tone down the voltage while staying stable?

I ocd to 3.9Ghz just to see benchmarks and temps to know if i maybe need a new coller and well, i do.

Ill probably run it on 3.7 or 3.6Ghz

well, just do a trial and error till you get the highest clockspeed you can get while the temperature and voltage is acceptable for the CPU while stressing.

Im overclocking it with intels software not through the bios so i can get a more live feedback

Near 90c is high but still safe as long as it doesn't get past that. Unless you're aiming for lower noise, you don't need a better cooler.
