So my pc is more like a small server with 34TB in it. The main purpose of it is to use it as a plex media server that i leave running 24/7.

Recently the pc just turned itself off, so I tried turning it back on again by just pressing the power button, it won't turn on... I switch off the power supply then switch it back on and that turns the pc on. Pc then runs fine for about 20 or so minutes and just turns itself off again.

So I was thinking maybe this could be a power supply problem. I grab a spare working power supply and plug that in.

24pin

cpu power

all HDDs

boots up for 10 seconds and just shuts down... cpu fan was spinning but some of the case fans were not.

So now I'am thinking it could be a motherboard issue.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: also just thought it would be worth mentioning that i unplugged all hdds but not OS one and ended up with the same results. Unplugged OS drive, same result.

So its coming down to the cpu. motherboard or RAM.

SYstem is a fx8350 8core AMD CPU

8gb ram

asus m5a99fx pro r2.0 board

Could be many things.

Psu cables could be faulty, bugged, not plugged in. Psu god be broken.

Mobo can be busted

Ram could be one thing too.

Storage might bug your system.

Gpu could bug your system.

So many things, but i think your mobo is busted, but douple check everything is connected properly

i mean I really hope 2 power supply's aren't dead. I unplugged all storage devices and there is no GPU. So yeah it is sounding like a motherboard problem.

Tried 2 power supplies man, same results. Unless both power supplies are dead... motherbaord, cpu and ram are fairly old... since fx8350 generation.
