Ports set open, not open.

Go to solution Solved by Windows7ge,

Looking up the modem it looks to be just that. I don't see any information saying it acts as a router or has you traverse NAT. This is a common cause of port forwarding not working. Also Carrier Grade NAT but that seems to be a lot more commonly seen with LTE routers.

Are you checking if the ports are open with your public IP or are you using a service such as no-ip? Are you certain you're testing the correct IP/port number? Are you certain you've opened the correct port? Are you testing ports 8080&8081?

I'm kind of at a loss here, I had to get a new modem, which didn't have a built in router, so i had to get a new router as well. I've got them hooked up, I have internet and local access, but my port forwarding isn't working at all.

My router is set to be 10.0.0.1, the ports I need open are pointed at my server which is set to 10.0.0.54.

This is how I've set it up, but I can't connect to it, and any port checker service says my ports are closed. I don't see any way to set it on the actual modem, I'm just not sure what to do. Anyone have suggestions?

Router: TP-Link Archer C6 AC1200
Modem: Arris Surfboard SB6190-RB with Xfinity internet.

I'm just going to edit this, I disabled the security settings on the router and they all lite up no issue so far. I guess I feel pretty dumb now. Thank you for your help.

You don't want to disable your firewall. You just want to open the single ports you need.

Or do you mean the modem?
