Analysis Paralysis - help with $700 build

McGangsta

Good Morning, as usual I find my self over thinking all this stuff.

This will be my 1st PC build and It will be used for typical Home/Office/school as well as light to moderate gaming - Cyberpunk 2077, Jedi Fallen Order, Guild Wars 2.

1. Budget & Location  - $700 (+/-) USA

2. Aim - Home/Office/School - some photo editing (not video) - gaming ( see games above)

3. Monitors - 2 eventually but one for now.....

4. Peripherals - not needed / will use a free media install of Win 10

5. Why are you upgrading? Because 2010 Mac Mini.........

ETA: RGB is not a thing...case needs to be functional, glass sides and pretty colors are not required.....would rather function over fashion.

Thanks so much.

I have "a" moniter, but it will need to be upgraded along the way.

I have to sell this build in sections to the wife, lol,  need to get the PC built, then I can get the 2 monitors by enlisting the help ofmu daughter who is moinve into photo/graphic design in Highschool

If you don't need a monitor now, I'd go for this:

Also, if I want to push the Ryzen to 3.8-4 GHz would I need a different cpu cooler?

May I ask why you are using a X470 vs a B450 MoBo?

It's slightly better than the MSI B450 boards while also costing less.

Yes. The stock cooler can't handle it. You'll probably need to get a Noctua or a decent AIO.

:The MSI X470 GAMING PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Rosewill Capstone 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it.

Is this going to be an issue?

1660 is a terrible value considering you can get a 5700 for $290.  The 5700 can also use an XT bios to get withing the margin of error on performance to the actual XT.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

Did they fix their driver issues with black screening,  frequent crashes and whatnot?  Last time I checked (like a week ago) this was still a huge issue with the 5700 series.

For what game?  I've not heard of this happening to anyone, and I know 3 guys with 5700s or XTs.

It seems like it was an issue this summer when the card was new, but I cant even find any threads with OPs newer than July.  Maybe some people with outdated versions of Adrenaline.

EDIT:  Yes there was a new version of Adrenaline released a week ago.

Every game,  it's a driver issue acknowledged by AMD also.  And should be known,  especially when recommending these GPUs it should be mentioned.

It's still not fixed.Do some googling, people with issues everywhere

AMD is releasing drivers constantly doesn't mean they fixed it.

So you're saying they fixed it now.  Fine.  I do have my doubts though...

If I am honest, I really need to wait until the requirements for CP2077 drop....not what CDPRedused at E3.

While the budget side of my head wants to get a RX580, I am sure that I will have to jump up from that to play.

I am an older guy.....and 1080p at reasonable settings with decent frame rate is what I am looking for....

I do or did...play GW2, and my 10 year old mac lags / stops in populated regions so I stopped playing.

Other than that, I don't see me taking the eSports world by storm.....
