Hi guys new here, but would appreciate some help/advice. My current PC is about 6-7 years old(did upgrade to a gtx 970, the rest is pretty old) and unfortunately it feels as if it could stop working at any moment, so I am forced to get a replacement. I had an idea of getting a Ryzen 5 3600 with a RTX 2080 Super but a couple of people I have spoken to have recommended that a Ryzen 7 3700x with a RTX 2070 Super would be better, what are your option on this? Both would fit in my budget(Zar 28 000) and I really wish I could just have you do the PCPartPicker magic but since I live in South Africa don't think that is an option. It's mostly for gaming which pretty much includes all games AAA to Indie and all genres(I do contract work so I tend to have a lot of downtime). I also play around on Blender every once in a while and do a bit of programming on the side though nothing major. Current monitor is a 1200p 60hz, but this is the first thing I want to upgrade next year when I have the new PC sorted out to a 1440p 144hz monitor. Also if I go for either Ryzen 5 or 7 should I buy a new Cooler or is the stock one good enough?

I don't want to mess this up since I tend to keep my stuff for a long time so any help/advice would be appreciated.

Hey and wellcome to the forum.

Can you tell us how much your budget is in $ or €? just roughly and try to factor in taxes etc. I dont know how expensive hardware is in Afrika :D

And idd get a R7 because you mentioned blender. If you get more into it you will be happy about 4 extra threads!

Thank you for the help, your build is something I was looking at except the motherboard which I would need to go cheaper to get both a Ryzen 7 and 2080 to fit the budget without going over too much.

So do you think a 2080 Super is worth the extra cost because I could probably stretch my budget a tad if it is worth it to get ryzen 7 with 2080? and also do you recommend getting a new cooler or is the stock one good enough?

OK we can do a cheaper mobo if you promise to not OC (to far)?!

the super is not worth in IMHO but depends on price. Its only a few percent faster

Will do in the future, but its no problem when you answer, I just appreciate the help.

I can get a Palit GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER GameRock Premium Edition for about Zar 12 500 which is about Zar 2 000($134.35) more expensive than a 2070 which honestly isn't that much extra in South Africa was just wondering if its worth.

The motherboard that would fit the budget and which somebody recommended to me was a MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

yeha when you have the $$ the 2080 is well worth it to push those 144Hz

That MOBO is fine. Dont try to OC to much with it and you're golden!

Feel free to ask Manny other questions you have! Happy to help
