Okay, so I'm going to start going to school in the Spring for IT (AAS Degree). I need to get a laptop so I can have my work anywhere I go. The problem is I don't have the funds to get a laptop. So, I would plan on getting it using my federal loans. BUT, those loans don't get distributed until February. January is the start date, what should I do?

Just here for some fun.

You can get a cheap used laptop on ebay for well under $100 and even under $50. If you're unable to afford that how are you planning on paying for college?

Look on craigslist too.

PayPal offers a line of credit which gives you 6 months interest free for purchases over $100. But beware if you're even a day late paying after this 6 month period you will need to pay 6 months of deferred interest. The interest rate is high so pay it off before the 6 months is up.

I agree

I study computer science and my old laptop from 2012 does the job just fine so far. There isn´t a need for a good laptop in the beginning

@The Blue CryptidI hope this goes without saying but I'll say it anyway. If you decide to go this route just use it as a thin-client. The less you depend on the machine locally the better. Then if it should take a dump, no big deal.
