Realtek HD 5.1 audio problems

I have 5.1 speakers. They've worked fine. But over the night my computer stopped recognizing them, and only played audio through my monitor, and I couldn't get the realtek driver to work or get my computer to recognize my speakers.
When I restarted my computer, the realtek driver worked again, but it only played audio in stereo.
So, I accessed the controll panel, and saw that it had been set to stereo. I changed it to 5.1 and did a test. Soung came from my front left, and front right speakers, but none of the other 3.1.
I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it and restarting my computer, but it doesn't seem to get my other speakers to play sound.
Does anyone have any advise?

That is a strange issue.  What comes to my mind first is to run DDU "Display Driver Uninstaller" and choose RealTek and do a clean and restart.  Then your back up into normal mode now install the latest RealTek drivers and let us know if that fixes things for you.
