Im new to Chromium OS(need some knowledge)

Hey guys, i was planning to get a second hand Surface pro 4 n planning to install chromium os into it.
Before i buy it i was doing some testing by installing chromium os on a usb stick and it booted(typing from chromium os browser btw)
But i realise my appstore was not able to installed it keep saying unable to set up or just looping at setting up app store.

And when i plugging my headphone or earphone it wont detect too.
Im very new to the chromium OS , i surf some online for answer but i got nothing,hopping anyone here can help me with that.
And is there any tips for some beginner like me to fully use the whole Chromium OS atmosphere that will be cool too!

Last I checked, Chromium OS is not for general consumer use (I just checked, and yup, still says that on the site). It also says that you need to modify it for your system that you plan to run it on and compile it. Whatever you are using is not official to my knowledge. You need to see with that community or author of the release for your issues, assuming your Surface Pro 4 is even listed as supported hardware, he/she/they might help.

 

Also, keep in mind the following:

• Chromium OS does not support Android app support. You need to pay a license with Google to have it, and that is not available outside of Chrome OS. Chrome OS is only available to registered OEMs.
• If your Surface Pro has LTE/3G connectivity. Chromium OS does not support this. OS limitation.
• No USB dock support with display outputs (OS limitation)

I can't comment on the specific device, but the closest to chrome os you can get without buying a chromebook is https://www.neverware.com/freedownload/

Hey sir,thanks for the information.

I have one question , the No USB dock support with display outputs (OS limitation) part,i quite dont mind, but is the mini display port on the surface pro 4 will work

Why do you want to install chrome OS on something other than a chromebook? That is going to be a pain in the ass and windows or linux work fine.

Can I ask why you what to install Chromium OS on a surface pro?

 

To me it just seems overkill to buy a reasonably powerful laptop & then stick a basic Os on it, as cryustom pointed out your going to lose a lot of basic functionality compared to a normal PC Os... is it for ease of use or because you want to play around with a new OS?

 

You may find that where the android market is slowly phasing out 3.5 Jack connections on phones for Bluetooth ones, that the pre-installed drivers are not built into the latest version of android meaning you need to download and install the separately.

 

Personally if u really want to use this ... I would just install a normal desktop OS and then install bluestacks
