Explorer.exe broken

SO basically my PC was working fine last night when i shut it down. When i turned it on today. the Taskbar had no icons and when i hovered my mouse over it, it showed the spinning loading icon thing. Then i started flashing. i opened task manager and it showed windows explorer was launching then restarting over and over again. Any idea how to fix it. I haven't done anything since i last used it. no updates or new drivers/software.

Does a restart not solve it?

 

If not then try a system restore to a point when it was working

i tried restarting multiple times and even tried in safe mode. I don't have any restore points due to lack of storage space.

you could give startup repair a try it might replace the .exe

You can try

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

 in an admin command prompt. If that still doesn't work, you're probably up for a wipe and reinstall.

thats what im going to do. Just need to copy some files off my boot drive before i do that tho

 heres a video of the issue. 

 

Im just going to do a clean reinstall of windows now.
