PC replacement (budget)

Robbert1986

Hi there,

I am new to the forums, but a long time LTT viewer (yay), because I am planning on a build!

The goal of this build is to setup a budget/mid-range rig, that I can upgrade in the next year or so.

I have about $ 600-700 ready to use for this build (amazon giftcards for the win), I live in the US, and plan on buying everything off of Amazon due to my gift cards.

My current PC is about 8 years old, runs a good ole' Intel 2700k. Over the last year however I bought two components I want to use in my new build:

Radeon 580 RX 8gb (Sapphire 11265-05-20G Radeon Pulse RX 580 8GB GDDR5)

WD Blue 2TB SSD (WD Blue 3D NAND 2TB Internal PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, 2.5"/7mm, Up to 560 MB/s - WDS200T2B0A)

So, I don't need a graphics card and a new HDD, yet, but my goal is to replace both the hard drive and graphics card in the next year. (M.2 (PICE 4.0) and a better GPU)

I'm thinking about the following setup:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600x

The price difference with the regular 3600 is small, so I figured I'd go for this one.

I plan on running the stock cooler, and then replace it with either a Noctua cooler, or a water cooler. At that point I may think about overclocking.

MoBo: Asus Prime X570-Pro OR Asus Prime X570-P

How much of an improvement would I get with the Pro over the P? It is about a $ 85 difference, and I don't plan on going full on ham with overclocking.

Case: NZXT H510 OR Corsair ICUE 220T OR Corsair 275R Airflow Tempered Glass

I'm not huge on RGB, but I like white cases I guess.

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 OR CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16

If I were to go for an ICUE case, I might as well add lights on my memory, right? But, I don't need this necessarily. Any other suggestions on memory with this setup? I do want to stick with 16gb.

PSU: Not sure yet, Corsair has a very nice white PSU, but costs $ 135, and kind of blows up my budget.

I do want to make sure I have a PSU in place that can run a more power hungry GPU.

EDIT: I forgot to add, I have a non modular PSU, which I could put in the new case, it is a 650 watt Corsair, not sure what type.

That's all I got, thanks!

Robbert

No need for the x of the 3600.

new ram kit as 2600k runs ddr3.

highly recommend the FD case (and it’s white).

as for psu, you cannot go wrong with the RMx series of Corsair. Yes it’s black, but the case has a psu shroud anyway.

let me know if you have any questions ?

Thanks for the quick reply! I like that case too, you've just made it harder on the case itself haha... I did some reading after I posted my topic, and it seems the X is not really worth the money.

On the case itself, is the Fractal easy to work with? (i.e. easier than for example the Corsairs I mentioned)

I like your recommendations, but OP wants to only buy off Amazon.

FD Meshify is the best case of 10+ cases I have owned, easy to build in and great cable management.

I’ve only worked with FD cases so far; they are a pleasure to work with. Also real good for cable management (if that’s something you care about haha)

EDIT:

as @JM21 pointed out, forgot the amazon thing so here my updated list, with amazon pricing.
