5700xt temps

I have the red dragon 5700xt video card and I'm wondering if my gaming temps are normal. I am playing the new COD and getting 70 degrees, but I am not even at full load because I have played with the settings. The issue is the card gets super loud as the fans ramp up when it's running at 70 or higher. Is this normal? I upgraded my case which now has a mesh front and three front fans and one exhaust in the back. Ideas?

70C is totally normal and AMD are kinda known for being loud and power hungry. 

 

Usually Saphire cards tend to be the coolest / most silent   but really 70C is nothing and you probably have to live with the noise.

The RX 5700/XT draws about the same power as a 2070/super

You can just lower your fan curve to target 80C in wattman, card won't even throttle until 90C I think.

 

The thermal pad also isn't the best for transferring heat but is better for longevity.

 

You could replace it with some thermal grizzly something, might get 5C if you're lucky from that, may need more mounting pressure as well, probably too much of a hassle.

 

If you're really after silence though, I'd have gone for a nitro+....

Also from the bit of research I did *before* deciding to go with a 2060 Super, the 5700 cards are best when undervolted,  cooler,  more silent and supposedly even faster... 

Headscratcher why they don't ship them like that then.

Yes it does? It means it produces the same amount of heat as a 2070/super too

 

They probably don't undervolt because they need to get as many working dies shipped as they can, so they go a bit high to make sure it works 100% of the time.

What you did there is called goal post moving,  for no reason I may add.  But you know that probably too.

a 200W AMD card produces the same amount of heat as a 200W nvidia card which is where the RX 5700 is at
