Hey guy's,

Around 8 months ago I built my friend a budget gaming rig.

- Ryzen 2200g

- 16gb 2400mhz RAM

-  RX580 8GB (was gtx 970)

-  B450m motherboard

(All parts were new other than the GPU)

Ever since day one he has been complaining about random crashes, not full crashes more like a freeze for around 5 - 10 seconds, this happens during normal day to day tasks but also during gaming. I feel responsible to repair this for him but unsure on where to start, he has had a new GPU since the original build so I'm eliminating that for the time being.

I have reseated his RAM and still have the same issues.

My next step is to try another RAM stick, then try a full fresh windows install, do you guys have any other ideas?

Any help would be muchly appreciated

Just because the GPU is new doesn’t mean the drivers are.  OEMs often ship drivers that were created when the card design was first announced.  There’s been a lot of movement recently in AMD drivers.

GPU drivers might be worth checking.  I recently discovered that even though I had automatic driver updates they were coming from the OEM not the designer and were still from 2017.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
