I live in a two story house. I have the router in an office next to the living room on ground floor. I have a desktop PC in my room, that is currently connected to the internet via a 50m ethernet cable. I live in Greece, so I don't know if a powerline kit would work (cause of the 3 phases). The thing is that I don't know if a wifi repeater/extender is a suiting solution, since I get no wifi on my phone from that room sometimes. My connection is 12down/0.8up mbps. I'm thinking about upgrading to VDSL 50down/5up mbps. I have the following questions:

1) How can I make the powerline work? (I think it is the optimal solution, since I read powerline has almost 0 losses)

2) In theory what will be the losses if I end up with a wifi repeater? (with my current connection)

3) Should I buy a repeater that has max wlan speed over 600 mbps?

Thank you in advance

Your house wiring quality will make a huge difference in how well powerline adapters will work.  Poor wiring will equate to poor powerline results, or even not work at all.

I never recommend WiFi repeaters.  They will cut your bandwidth in half, at a minimum.  Typically they are far more trouble than they are worth.

Another option, if you can do it in Greece, is MoCA if you cannot run Ethernet.

Here are the connectivity preferences in order of best to worst:

1.  Ethernet

2.  MoCA

3.  Powerline

4.  WiFi

Items 3 and 4 will switch spots depending on your situation.

1) Powerline does have loss. If you dont have newer wiring that is done to code, then there could be loss. The newer adapters use the hot, neutral and ground for data transmission. So if the wiring is not done right you will have issues. Power line adapters will also have loss if your crossing cirucut breakers, in the US each room is generally on its own circut if its a newer home. Here in the US we use 2 phase power, so if your the rooms in question are not only on two seperate cirucuts but also on diffrent phases, you can have loss.

2) About 50%. WiFi repeaters generally have 1 radio in them. It can eaither communicate with the router, or with a device. Some of the higher end repeaters OR mesh solutions will have a dedicated radio that communicates between the router then a second or in some cases thrid radio will communicate with devices. Some examples would be Google's Mesh system or The Netgear Orbi.

3) I would never buy a repeater.

@trueCABLE makes some valid points above. If you cant run Ethernet to the location, Id suggest using Moca. Many houses are wired for coax and its a great use of the coax if you ask me. There are moca adapters that have multiple Ethernet ports as well as WiFi built in, if you still looking to extend your WiFi network, but its a wired standard and can support speeds up to about 800Mbps +.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
