last gen cards are not being produced, therefore supply goes down, therefore price goes up. You can get a 1070 off eBay for $200 usd

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

not like it wasn't replaced. The 1660 ti is right behind it in performance, and it was released at a lower price point too. AMD will soon have a 5600 and 5600 XT or something like that to compete in that price bracket too, so not like you're living without options.

Why?

 

During the mining boom just a couple years ago the price of a new 1070 was upto $1000usd(not that anyone should have ever paid that). Now you can get similar performance out of a 1660ti for like $250-300 or a significant boost over a 1070 out of a 2060 or rx 5700 for $300-350?

 

You have cheap used Maxwell and Polaris cards well under those price points and used Pascal cards like the 1070 right above those, now is a great time to pick up used hardware as there's finally a very worthwhile upgrade path for people anyone who has been stuck with Haswell/Skylake and Maxwell. This should be pushing the price down for these. The Canadian market is pretty rough on used hardware and deals though but if you search hard enough, they're definitely out there.

Honestly I'd just get a used GPU. Much more bang for the buck.

Plus with Black Friday around the corner prices will drop substantially on cards.
