Please help need upgrade CPU for h57 motherboard higher than i7-880

Motherboards only rated for certain models..

They each have a website with a CPU support list..

 

Motherboard Model Number/Part Number?

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

there's really nothing else left on that socket. if you want something better you're gonna have to upgrade your motherboard.

what's your performance target? possibly something like an 880 would work fine, you can get really cheap xeons for that motherboard.

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad
