Go Ryzen on Black Friday?

Current System

i5-6500

2x8gb ddr4 2400

rx 5804gb

Thinking of upgrading to

ryzen 5 2600

16gb ddr4 3200-3600

b450 board.

I don't game very much anymore tbh. Would it be a waste of money to do this?

Ryzen is very nice, but not knowing how your current system is holding you back gives me no perspective on if this is a waste or not.

If your current system is doing alright for your use-case right now, there will be very little reason to upgrade the system.

If you do a bit of video editing, 3D modeling, play some more modern games, etc. and feel your i5 6500 is holding you back; sure the upgrade is worth it.

as a gaming machine this would be just ok i think.

maybe you can upgrade the ram to 16gb or have a good ssd (if not already).

Already done both. Honestly system is my secondary system nowadays because it's in the basement.
