Can’t change search engine

Recently, a personal MacBook that my friend uses, automatically switched to another search engine. When I try to go into the settings to change it, it is grayed out. I tried resetting the settings and even reinstalled chrome. Somebody help.

Go to system preferences and make sure there is not a option for profiles, if so remove the profiles. I would also use Malwarebytes (which is free) and have it scan for malware. Check the settings within the browser too. What search engine is it defaulting to?
