RTX 2080 or 2070 SUPER?

Hey all,

 

Thinking of upgrading my GPU since it's the thing I didn't upgrade last time I did a refresh of my system. I currently have a GTX 980Ti.

 

I'm a little lost over the RTX naming scheme, and I've seen an RTX 2080 on eBay for £575, and an RTX 2070 SUPER for around £500. (eBay has a 10% off everything sale in the UK so want to take advantage of it)

 

Which would flatout be the best card to buy?

Also is a general rule: Higher clockspeed out of the box is generally better card (of cards of same chip)?

 

Rest of my rig is;

R7 2700X (with AIO)

STRIX B450-F Motherboard

16GB 3000MHz RAM

M.2 SSD

They are so close in performance I would go with whichever one has the better cooling solution.

2070super =basically a 2080.

 

go with the 2070 purely cause they are a gem newer.

Thanks both, going to go with the RTX 2070 SUPER - now between the Gigabyte Gaming OC or the MSI Gaming X Trio - any thoughts?

The MSI one might be a little quieter. They're both triple fan cards right? You should be fine either way.
