Is this an optimized system for Premiere Pro/Adobe Suite?

This system will be used for the Adobe Suite such as After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.

 

Here are the main specs:

  1. Ryzen 5 3600
  2. 16GB DDR4
  3. GTX 1650
  4. 1TB NVMe

Any suggestions? I'm wondering if money can be better allocated elsewhere. Oh, and is the stock cooler sufficient? Thanks!

 

EDIT: Could I get away with an R5 2600 and would it provide me with similar performance?

I'm gonna say stick with the 3600. Faster cores is always better.

Ideally you'd want an Intel build for After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro however it is understandable that it is often too expensive to make an Intel build.

 

So with that in mind at least to get Zen 2 (3600) since it is a lot better at it than previous Ryzen generations.

 

GTX 1650 is often terrible value, while the CUDA Acceleration on these tasks will not benefit from a super high end gaming card something like the GTX 1060 6GB could be a better pick if you have decent second hand deals on your area.

 

Make sure you have at least 3000mhz~3200mhz rated memory as well since Zen 2 is sensitive to it.

 

You might wanna consider a cheap 240GB SSD for boot drive and then go with a 2TB HDD instead, might slown down things a little but it's still a considerably superior "value" proposition specially on markets where SSDs are still fairly pricey.

Thank you for the in depth info! It is much appreciated and will be taken into consideration. As for the graphics card, the GTX 1650 is the best bet if I want to go new right?

GTX 1650 is a terrible value graphics card, it is weak, it uses old tech (Volta based NVENC, GDDR5 memory, Pascal based shaders) it's overpriced for what it is... I'd much prefer the GTX 1660 if that's a possibility.

I would highly recommend getting more ram.

 

16GB is really entry level for a content creation rig.

 

I would argue 32GB minimum, 64GB being the sweet spot for performance for most workloads.

 

I would also recommend, if possible getting two M.2s for Windows Apps, Source file / active projects, and an HDD for just storage for final projects.

 

Cost should be similar, and that allows you to segregate Windows and Applications onto one, and use the other specifically for your source files.

 

These two are probably far more important than nitpicking on CPU performance, as Ryzen 3000 really closes the gap and the option to drop in a 12C or 16C Ryzen 3000 part down the line for a massive upgrade makets Socket AM4 a no brainer IMO. I do plan to upgrade my friend on his X470 board to a Ryzen 3000 or 4000 when he starts to think his 2700X with the stock cooler isn't cutting it anymore.

 

As long as the video card is a modern Geforce, it should be fine. I think the sweet spot would be a GTX 1660 as you get the new NVENC (you do NOT get that on the 1650) and you get more VRAM, which will help with preview rendering. RAM is critical for preview rendering and operating in more complex time lines, which is why I recommend more system ram and more VRAM.

Thanks for the advice! The motherboard I chose only has one nvme m.2 and one sata m.2. Onto which SSD would Windows and the Windows apps go?

I honestly would recommend finding one that allows for two NVME capable M.2s.
