No offense, but if you run a business on troubleshooting PCs and the likes and need to ask what things to check from the start, you're probably in the wrong line of work.

Lmao. I’m defo not a business owner, just individual who’s keen to learn different perspectives from people who know more than I do.

  • slow as a whole, or slow when using a program or doing something specific?
  • does the mouse cursor stutter as well when it's slow?
  • what background programs are running? (i.e. the icons to the right of the taskbar)
  • what programs is the customer using?

there're are a few more things you can find out about the PC to make sure it's up to the task of running programs the user intends to use, but really at this point it depends on a few factors:

  • is it just starting to slow now after quite a long time with no change in usage habits? or has the user installed or updated something recently?
  • is the OS on a HDD? and if so how old is that HDD
  • if it's a pretty demanding program, is the hardware up to the task? (yeah this one's not something anyone can be an expert in 10 minutes so there's going to be a need to search the internet)

all these can't be learned overnight, but if you're on the hot end right now I don't think you're ready yet ._. half the job is Google, but the other half is to have a rough idea of which part or area does what when it's faulty or not up to spec.

also not scaring the guy on the other end. that's a general soft skill for a lot of jobs out there.

EDIT: also if it's a prebuilt PC you may have to phrase your questions differently. extremely important if the company you're working for makes that prebuilt PC

Thanks. I just received this question and wanted to see if their was a different approach.

What are something things I could to fix those issues?
