Looking for a big HDD to store videos on for editing. Not really experienced in 6TB+ sized drives in terms of what brand is decent. Always have gone with WD but Seagate seems fine

For mass storage I've been using the Seagate Ironwolf NAS drives. Have been spinning 24/7 and have been working well so far.

 

If you want to save money and plan on putting these in a desktop or a cheap NAS you can consider shucking drives. The WD Easystore external drives are often white label WD Red drives. I believe 5400RPM. You do have to do a little hackery though to get them working.

I'm pretty sure anything below 8TB externals are Blue drives but the 8TB would still be cheaper than a regular 6TB.

Make sure it fits in you drive case, since they are missing the middle holes. I ran into the problem just now, since my case is plastic and they have studs in the center, but no hole in the drive. Also, the bottom holes under the drive are mismatched and I cannot screw them in to secure the drive to the plastic case. Saw a Toshiba model, and they do have the middle holes.
