New Headphones

Hey guys,

I'm currently using HyperX Cloud II's for gaming, music, and movies but I want to upgrade to better headphones. Currently, it's hard to tell footstep location (particularly Apex Legends, when someone is running in front of me, it sounds like they're either right next to me or behind me; and yes, I'm using the simulated 7.1 surround sound).

 

I've been doing a lot of research and decided on either:

Audio Technica ATH-ADG1X [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AYZZP5U] - I've read they're practically the same as ATH-AG700X or ATH-900X but with a mic

Sennheiser HD599 [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RFNZYJZ] with a Cable Boom Microphone [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W1G95PH]

 

Please help me pick which one I should get (or list any recommendations). I use my headphones to play on PS4, Xbox, and PC; listen to music (at work); and watch movies/TV shows

TURN OFF 7.1. 
IT SUCKS ASS

I like my sennheiser HD 598 CS

that mic won't work, sennheiser uses a proprietary cable

Yes, I've played with it off as well...hence why I want new headphones.
