Custom Wifi Modem/Router Out of leftover PC Parts?

You can build your own router using pfSense. I don't have a basic setup guide for it but you can Google it.
I don't believe Wi-Fi adapters can be used for transmitting a AP signal (last I heard anyways. I'm open to being corrected). You'd probably have to buy a commercial AP (Access Point) to handle Wi-Fi off this pfSense router.
