So I recently inherited a gaming system (albeit one with some questionable part combinations). I was playing Destiny 2 today, when in the middle of the gaming session the whole system just shut off. I tried powering it back on but to no avail.  I removed the graphics card to see if that was the culprit and the system booted up. But whenever the GPU is plugged into the power supply the system won't turn on. To my knowledge the PSU has more than enough power to run the system. Do I have a dead graphics card? I do not have  a spare GPU to test with.

  • CPU: I7 8700k
  • MoBo: ASUS ROG Strix H370-I Gaming
  • RAM: 2x8gb G.Skill Ripjaws V
  • GPU: ASUS RX570
  • PSU: Corsair CX550M

Would a 1660 Ti or a 2060 be a better replacement for  1440p 60hz gaming?

Seems to me like a bad PSU, it could be on it's last legs and the GPU is too much load for it. Some testing will need to be done to find out if the PSU or GPU is bad.
