Has anyone used conformal coatings for their motherboard? I've seen it used many times in YouTube videos as a protective layer between the motherboard and paint itself.

I'd prefer it over Plasti-Dip due to it not being a rubber coating and therefore not as thermally insulating.  I found a white conformal coating I'd like to try once I get my PC parts in the coming months.

I want to go full white on the build to make it more effective to do a snowblind mod.

The acrylic conformal coating I found is a bit expensive, but I can see it being worth it if effective.

It's the Miller-Stephenson MS-475C conformal coating. I've read all the technical data sheets on it and it seems a winner to me, including thermal performance, working at a range of -55°C to 110°C.

What do y'all think?

Peace,

My bad, after looking up water-white, it literally means clear. So, I'd have to paint afterwards anyway. Much like Tech Source did in his motherboard painting video

Instead of painting why not consider a shielding above the said components bit like the tuf boards, you could make it out of plastic if you wanted or a custom metal.

My motherboard choice has changed as I needed 1 more sata port and it's a better board....

I'm now gonna be going with the ASUS AMD AM4 ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi), which has quite a bit of the pcb covered with shielding, so the shielding itself can be painted instead. And the capacitors are mostly all silver, so I'll tape off all areas covered by shielding and the capacitors and use Plasti-Dip for the rest. Plus the rtx 2070 super card I'm going with has a backplate, so I can avoid pcb painting there too.

I'm relatively proficient at problem solving, so I just ended up doing more research lol

I wish I could find white cable passthroughs for the Corsair carbide air 540, but maybe I'll just do an acrylic cover like "IModderNation" did, or attempt to paint the passthroughs with Plasti-Dip as well
